Music is the universal language. It communicates on many levels, the primary one being emotional. My live performances combine blues with jazz. The basic structure of the blues makes it accessible, while the jazz element leaves room for improvisation and inspiration. My musical roots stem from growing up in the New York area and a love of New Orleans, the birthplace of American music. While the live performances are more blues/jazz-based, the interactive music installations and sound art are experimental, incorporating electronic music, recordings of nature and other diverse elements. The music I write for films is done by watching the footage and composing a piece of music that fits the visual rhythmic structure and overall content of the scene. Live performances are about the moment and the relationship with the audience, while studio recording allows me to experiment with music, sounds and textures that are often not possible in a real-time performance. The music below is from studio recordings, live performances, sound art, interactive music and film soundtracks.
